How is my work experience counted in terms of eligibility for applying for PhD or MTech Admissions?
We consider your total regular/permanent teaching experience
in AICTE approved Engineering Colleges. (2 years for MTech. and 3 years for PhD). Experience in Diploma Colleges will not be considered.

MTech Programme under QIP is for lecturers having 2 years regular/permanent teaching experience in AICTE approved Engineering Colleges and having a B.E/B.Tech Degree.

PhD Programme under QIP is for lecturers having 3 years regular/permanent teaching experience in AICTE approved Engineering Colleges and having a M.E/M.Tech Degree.

MTech/PhD Programmes under QIP is only for AICTE approved Engineering College lecturers.

If a candidate gets selected in more than one Institute or in more than one department, does the candidate have the choice to choose the department after the interview?
No such choice is provided to the candidate after the interview.

Is it the selection committee selecting the department for admission based on the preferences in the application?
The selection committee will be entirely responsible for selecting the department for admission based on the preferences given in the application.

Is it possible to change the order of preference after the Interview ?
It is not possible at all to change the order of preference after the interview. After Final Print out of the application it is not possible to change the preference.

How many times a year will admissions to MTech/PhD Programmes under QIP take place?
Once in a year. Admission process starts from the month of September and final selection takes place in the following month of April.
Can I claim for TA/DA for attending the interview?
There is no provision for TA/DA under QIP.

Do I need to send the Principal Coordinator Copy to IISc Bangalore and the Institute copies to respective Institute Departments?
The Principal Coordinator copy along with the Institute copies and required testimonials should be sent to IISc Bangalore and not to respective Institute Departments.

Can I send you a copy of my application in advance and the main copy later after having forwarded by the university?
Principal Coordinator copy along with the Institute copies and required testimonials has to be sent to IISc Bangalore forwarded by the University. No advance copies will be accepted by QIP.

Do I need to send the testimonials for each of the Institute copies and the Principal Coordinator copy separately?
Yes, required testimonials should be sent to IISc Bangalore for each of the Institute copies and the Principal Coordinator Copy separately.

Do I need to attach a Demand Draft for each of the Institute copies and the Principal Coordinator copy?
The Principal Coordinator and the Institute copies along with the necessary testimonials should be accompanied by a single demand draft
drawn in favour of 'Registrar IISc' payable at Bangalore.

Is it needed to write Registration Number on the top of the envelope?
Principal Coordinator copy along with the Institute copies and required testimonials has to be sent to IISc Bangalore in a single envelope bearing the registration number and name of the applicant on top of the envelope.

Is GATE percentile required for pursuing MTech Programme Under QIP?
GATE percentile is not required for pursuing MTech Programme Under QIP. MTech Programme under QIP is for lecturers having 2 years regular/permanent teaching experience in AICTE approved Engineering Colleges and having a B.E/B.Tech Degree.
Whether QIP MTech/PhD scheme is open to countries other than India?
No, this scheme is only for teachers of engineering colleges of India.
- Whether the online application has reached your office?
The on-line application data are stored in IISc Bangalore computer server whenever you save the data in on-line application.

Whether I can use specimen copy of the application, which is given in the Information Brochure?
You should never use the specimen copy of the application.Only the online application has to be filled and that has to be printed for taking the forwarding note from your Head of Institution.

Please let me know the procedure of sending call letter (Is it a hardcopy/ softcopy)?
For interview call letter (hardcopy) will be sent by respective Insitutes where candidate has applied.

When will I get the interview Call letter for QIP Admission 2013?
QIP, IISc Bangalore will do the initial round of shortlisting based on the eligibility criteria published in the QIP information brochure. In December first week QIP IISc Bangalore will send the shortlisted applications to respective Institute for second round of shortlisting (which will be done by respective departments of the
Institute where applicant has applied). The interview call will be sent by the Institute QIP coordinator (or concern Institute official as the case may be). Interview schedule is already published in the QIP information brochure and in QIP website.

Is it necessary to attend interview at all the institutes as well as the departments from which I receive interview call letter?
There is no rule that you must attend interview at all the institute you opted for .However , it is advice to attend all of them since a recommendation from department is not ensuring that you will be selected in that institute.Moreover, as per norm the recommendation from a department is always confidential.
